There is perhaps nothing in fishing that compares to sight fishing Tarpon on fly
Fly fishing for tarpon in the Palm Harbor, Clearwater, Dunedin and Homosassa waters is more than about simply catching this amazing fish. It’s about the preparation, the pursuit, the life changing experience of witnessing a string of fish swimming straight for you and shooting the perfect cast just in front of them. Watching it eat the fly on the surface, turn and make your drag scream as it launches itself toward the sky!
In the sport of fishing, perhaps nothing compares to sight fishing for tarpon on a fly. This is what we dedicate our summer days to. Chasing, tailing, and rolling tarpon day and night in pursuit of the next great fish.
When it comes to tarpon fishing we take no chances. Each leader is made by the captain to ensure strength and predictability. The flies are carefully chosen and only the best equipment is to be used. We know that great fishing days can be hard to come by because everyone is limited by time. With tarpon fishing we will take no chances in making sure to give you every opportunity to hook into one.
We travel around the state of Florida competing in several fly fishing tarpon tournaments in addition to guiding full time. There is no replacement for experience when it comes to standing on that poling platform and positioning the boat to give you the best possible angle to the fish. We will work together as a team to get the job done, and when everything goes right, it’s an amazing moment that you won’t soon forget!
We fish from one of three flats boats depending on where we will be fishing. We run a Hells Bay Neptune, a Hells Bay Marquesa, and a Hells Bay Professional. All have their specific functions but all maintain that super quiet and low profile hull as to not spook the approaching tarpon. Whether we are fishing the shallow flats in 1 ft of water or beach fishing for oceanside fish, we will put you on the fight of your life!
We also have a full time professional camera crew if you would like to catch the whole experience on film. It is truly a lifetime achievement.
There is perhaps no better tarpon fishery in the country during the months of May, June, or July due to the incredible diversity of our landscape. There is always a way to find the fish no matter if you’re a bait fisherman or a fly fisherman.
A word of caution to those of you that don’t already know… This is perhaps the most addicting sport to be found anywhere in the world! Once you set the hook on the Silver King and witness the gigantic hole it leaves in the earth as it launches itself toward the sky, the rest will be out of your hands and you will have joined the club of the insanely obsessed fishermen that can think about nothing more than the next “Fix” of adrenaline and his/her next battle with the mighty tarpon or as many call the “Silver King”!
